Great ideas!

Here is a great idea from the Katy Mills ward:
The KM Relief Society Presidency is challenging every sister in their Relief Society to read the October General Conference talks over  40 days.  Attached is a schedule that will help them complete this challenge. It begins on January 21st.  After completing the challenge they will have the opportunity to meet together for lunch or dinner and share their experiences.

Provident Living 2015

Sis. Virginia Dolan, our Stake Provident Living leader, has offered to give a Provident Living presentation to each of the wards. President Allen has approved for you to make arrangements with your Bishop to have a combined meeting with the Priesthood and Sisters. We all agree the brethren may need a little encouragement to catch the vision of being prepared. Virginia passed out delicious samples to taste and that makes a believer of all of us.

Sis. Dolan would like to be able to schedule two meetings in one building because she has so many supplies to set up for display and taste. The wards who have taken part in her presentation are impressed and motivated with new & great ideas. Possible dates are Feb. 8 or sometime in April or May.

Please contact her to schedule a time for you ward :)

Stake Goals

Stake Goal:  Invite a friend or neighbor to church, a church activity, or a gospel-centered activity in your home before Stake Conference in February.  Search for family names and take a name to the temple. Each ward or branch has help available.

FYI: Each ward has a box of Books of Mormons in the Clerk’s office for anyone who wants to give one away.

Merry Christmas

Sisters,

I have watched the video “He is the Gift” several times this last week, and it such a great reminder of the greatest Gift we have been given by our loving Heavenly Father. Maybe we can’t change the commercialism of Christmas, but we can CHANGE OUR HEARTS.  During this wonderful season, take time to ponder the blessings that are ours as a result of Christ’s birth, teachings, atonement and resurrection. It is all tied together in a “complete” GIFT to us. We feel love and appreciation for the way you serve each other and bless the lives of those within your influence. May you all enjoy the blessings of love and joy each day.  We love you and wish you Merry Christmas!

The Stake RS Presidency,
Sis. Samantha Kirby

Sunday Lessons

Our Church Leaders have encouraged us to use more member participation in teaching our Sunday lessons. They will not make any printed changes to the curriculum in 2015, but will have a new curriculum in 2016 for the Relief Society and Priesthood that will follow the “Come Unto Christ” format that the YW/YM have been using.  They would like us to begin to try and train our teachers to involve the class members.
Sister Mary Tate, Katy 2nd Ward, suggested an article from the August 2013 Ensign “Great Questions, Great Discussions” by Jack Lyon.  They have found this article helpful in encouraging more interaction and preparation by both the teacher and the sisters.

Two Books I would also suggest are:
In Tune, by Gerald Lund and Increase in Learning by David R. Bednar.

Houston Temple announcement from President Crane

The Peter Potential

Just a reminder to read and pass on The Peter Principle book.
It has a beautiful message and the note in the front can easily be taken off for passing along.

A great idea :)

Using the Family History Center for an Enrichment activity is a great idea!
Katy 1st is doing it Nov. 13,  if you would like to learn from their experience.
