YW transitioning into Relief Society

“The work of Relief Society is relevant for the young women who are entering their adult years. They are ready to serve and ready to participate in a cause that is bigger than themselves. They want to be part of something that changes lives and makes the world a better place.”
Julie B. Beck, Relief Society general president, from an interview with the Ensign, May 27, 2008.

This is such an exciting time for the YW in your ward to transition into Relief Society!  Here are some great suggestions for giving them a warm welcome:

1) Plan an activity for them, do something that they are interested in.
2) Implement a Grandmother mentoring program (contact Katy 3rd for more info.)
3) Spotlight the YW with a slideshow or an official introduction into RS.
4) Be sensitive and thoughtful when planning your lessons each Sunday, include the YW as often as possible.
5) Assign them loving visiting teachers and make them a visiting teacher as well.  Assign them a partner that will work well with them and teach them how to be a great visiting teacher.
